Transport your vehicle to the destination state along with the NOC and valid identity documents. This can be done either by driving it yourself or using a transport service.Pay the Road Tax in the New State
Pay the applicable road tax based on the age and type of your vehicle. Road tax rules may vary from state to state.Submit the Re-Registration Application
Visit the local RTO and submit Form 20 along with all required documents, including the NOC, ID proofs, and previous RC.Vehicle Inspection by RTO
The RTO will carry out a physical inspection of your vehicle to ensure all details match the records.Receive the New Registration Certificate (RC)
Once verification is completed successfully, the RTO issues a new RC reflecting your vehicle’s registration in the new state.Optional: Claim Road Tax Refund
If you paid road tax in the previous state, you may apply for a refund as per the rules of that state.
To complete the process of re-registering your vehicle, you need to submit the following documents to the RTO:
Original Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle
Valid Insurance Certificate
Valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the original RTO
Form 20 – Application for Registration
Form 27 – Application for Assignment of a New Registration Number
Form 33 – For updating the address
Owner’s PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, or any other valid proof of address
Original Invoice of the vehicle (required in some states)
Chassis number pencil print
Recent passport-size photographs of the owner
Road tax payment receipt applicable for the new state
